Interested in Author/Artist Visits? It is such an exciting way to inspire burgeoning readers, writers, and artists.
Carlene is available for visits to schools, libraries, and many other groups: “I love traveling, and I love visiting with students of all ages (after all, we are all students of life!) I like to talk, beforehand, with each teacher whose class I visit in order to learn what they are focusing on so I can customize my presentation for them.
Of course, I would like to talk about my books too, but I would like to offer more than that. As well as English and Writing classes, I am available for Art class visits – providing aspiring artists with the opportunity to talk with someone who has worked in a different aspect of the art world than they may have considered: I not only illustrate, I have been a stage designer/painter for over 40 years.”
Carlene lives in Northern California, but with advanced planning, she can travel anywhere. She recently spent a month in south-eastern Kansas visiting groups ranging from 3rd graders to Graduate students, offering presentation for 30 to 90 minutes. The more groups coordinated in an area, the more feasible long distances are, as costs can be split between neighboring schools and communities.
Carlene’s honorarium requests vary by proximity to her home, travel necessities, local transportation, hotel and meal costs, and number of visits per day.
Carlene is sometimes available for 30 minute virtual visits (utilizing FaceTime) with students who have read at least one of her books.
Cost:
**Virtual Visit – $15 per session
**Personal Visit – $25 per 30 to 45 min. session
**Maximum of 6 sessions a day (with breaks in between).
That is the starting point; however, she is willing to negotiate by school. Some school budgets simply have no $ for a guest, while others do.
Don’t hesitate to express your interest in having Carlene visit your students.
